Ramapo has consistently rated one of the safest communities in the United States. The mostly due to the fact that most of his residents are law abiding citizens, duh! Now, in regard to traffic tickets, that is whole nuther ballgame. Due to various socioeconomic and cultural factors, there seem to be a lot of traffic violations committed in the relatively small town of Ramapo. BTW, the court notices for Ramapo Town Court state that the court is located in Suffern, NY; this is due to the fact that the Ramapo Town Court has a mailing address of Suffern. To make matters even more confusing, the Ramapo Town Court lies within the jurisdiction of the Village of Airmont, so that any crimes committed in the Town of Ramapo Hall, and Justice court, are returnable (meaning are heard) in the Village of Airmont's court. Anyhow, I digress.

Combined with the various factors causing Ramapo drivers to disregard the traffic laws, is the vigilant enforcement of Traffic laws by Ramapo's Finest the Ramapo Police Department. Other departments which issue summonses returnable in Ramapo Town Court are the New York State Police, both Troop T (which issues ticket primarily on the Thruway (87)) and Troop F, which issues traffic tickets primarily on the small stretch of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, the Thruway (87) and sometimes local roads; also the Rockland County Sheriff's Department patrols the local streets and occasionally the highways running through Ramapo. Finally, there is the New York State Park Police which issues tickets in the State Parks which are contained within the Town of Ramapo.

Most of the matters handled in Ramapo Town Court are traffic tickets, speeding tickets, cell phone tickets, stop signs and red lights.  Regarding criminal matters, there are the usual  drunk driving cases, shoplifting, aggravated unlicensed driver (VTL 511) from the local stores, aggravated unlicensed driver (VTL 511) drug violations, assault, and the usual code violations, for example.
